Overview

The Blue Band Initiative is a multidisciplinary approach designed to improve awareness, communication, recognition and treatment. This approach focuses on pregnant and postpartum patients at an elevated risk for complications from hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the pathophysiology and classification of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
  2. Discuss the Blue Band Initiative criteria, identification and management
  3. Discuss knowledge of the workflow, communication and documentation standards
  4. Review the OB Severe Hypertension protocol
  5. Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education to improve maternal outcomes and continuity of care

Accreditation

Cheyenne Regional Medical Center is accredited by the Colorado Medical Society to
provide continuing medical education for physicians.
