UW ECHO in Rural Obstetrical Care

The ECHO in Rural Obstetrical Care is a statewide initiative supporting clinicians who care for pregnant patients in rural and frontier communities. Developed by the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND) in collaboration with the Wyoming Primary Care Association, this virtual learning network provides monthly, case-based training focused on high-risk obstetrics and maternal health emergencies. Wyoming data shows that maternal morbidity and mortality are impacted by mental health, substance use, and barriers to timely emergency care. These challenges are often magnified in rural settings. Through this ECHO, clinicians will gain practical strategies, skills, and connections to better manage complex pregnancies, reduce risk, and strengthen Wyoming's maternal health workforce.

1. Improve clinician competence in the recognition and management of obstetrical emergencies. Increase participants' knowledge and clinical decision making skills related to high risk obstetrical conditions, including postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, preterm labor, third trimester bleeding, precipitous delivery, and fetal monitoring, using case based, evidence informed education relevant to rural and frontier practice.
2. Enhance clinician performance through interdisciplinary collaboration and systems based care. Support changes in clinical practice by strengthening consultation patterns, communication, and care coordination among OBGYN, Family Medicine, and Emergency Medicine providers.
3. Contribute to improved maternal health outcomes in rural Wyoming. Reduce preventable maternal morbidity and mortality by equipping clinicians with practical strategies and professional networks that support timely care escalation, risk mitigation, and consistent application of best practices across geographically dispersed, resource limited settings.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no less than 20 days before the course will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to  [email protected].

Master Healthcare System reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
